Cat-food maker issues recall notice

junio 10, 2009

The Seattletimes News

Nutro Products has voluntarily recalled varieties of cat food sold across the U.S. and in 10 other countries.

The Tennessee company says the recall was prompted by incorrect levels of zinc and potassium resulting from a production error by a U.S. supplier.

The recall products are «Nutro Natural Choice,» «Complete Care Dry Cat Foods,» and «Nutro Max Cat Dry Foods» with use-by dates of between May 12, 2010, and Aug. 22, 2010.

The recall does not affect any Nutro dog-food products, wet dog or cat food, or dog and cat treats.

Nutro is working with its distributors and retailers to remove the recalled products from stores. Consumers who bought the affected products should return them to the retailer for a full refund or exchange for another Nutro dry cat-food product.

Cat owners who have been feeding the products should monitor for symptoms such as reduced appetite, weight loss, vomiting or diarrhea.

Consumers can find out more at the company Web site, www.nutroproducts.com/press-recall/press-recall.html or by calling 800-833-5330 between 6 a.m.-2:30 p.m. PDT.
