The addition of extra foods should be limited to no more than 5% to 10% of the pet’s daily caloric requirements.
Any meat, fish, or poultry that is fed should be well cooked, and all bones should be removed
The use of milk and cheese should be strictly monitored. Some adult dogs and cats are lactose intolerant and cannot efficiently digest diary products
The exclusive use of any single food item should be avoided, even when adding it to pet’s diet in very small amounts
